When I came to the program, I was maried and pregnant with my son. At the same time my husband found out that he was HIV positive. My son and I were both tested and came out negative. Fou yearrs ago, we moved to Entoto for the holy water in hopes that my husband would be healed and we could continue our normal life. After we moved here, he left me for another woman. I decided since I had lost my husband and family that it was best for me and my son to stay at Entoto. After losing all financial support from them, I started to beg on the streets for money- it was all I could do. I heard about the Saturday education program so I began attending. After coming for a long time, they invited me to be part of the jewelry-making program. I was worried because I have had many bad things happen in my life, but after coming to the program I was happy and got to experience many good things. The women and leaders here at this project are now my family. This program is like a caring mother for me and my son. It has brought me much happiness and has made a new life for me- I have changed. My goals are to save enough money to move into the city. We have started savings accounts now and I am so glad because this will help me reach my goals. Now I no longer live in the streets. I am thankful that my life has become better. It is like night and day.
