Founded by Kirsten Dickerson and Sophia Lin who share a close friendship and passion for fashion and ethical design, Raven + Lily was created as a platform to utilize those passions to alleviate poverty among women.
Raven + Lily currently helps employ marginalized women in India, Ethiopia, Kenya, Cambodia, Pakistan, Guatemala, and the USA at fair trade wages to give them access to a safe job, sustainable income, health care, education, and a real chance to to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families. Raven + Lily is committed to providing products that are made by hand, follow fair trade standards, and honor our eco-friendly commitment.
THE ETHIOPIA COLLECTION is comprised of statement jewelry designs crafted with handmade beads and charms from melted bullet casings (from former war conflicts) and vintage silver coins. The collection empowers HIV+ women in Ethiopia. The Ethiopia Collection also includes leather bags made by women vulnerable to labor trafficking.
THE INDIA COLLECTION features gorgeous recycled cotton papers, hand-carved wood journals, metallic leather jewelry, and hand-milled natural soaps. This collection empowers marginalized women in Northern India. Our second partnership in India makes organic totes and helps to employ women freed from the sex trade.
THE CAMBODIA COLLECTION includes eco-friendly apparel made with hand-loomed and remnant materials. These hand-printed pieces are made with love by women in Cambodia.
THE KENYA COLLECTION intricate handbeaded jewelry using traditional artisan skills. Empowering Maasai women from the Esiteti community to eradicate FGM (female genital mutilation) from their community as well as to be the first generation to send girls to school. We also partner with two different artisan groups that employ women to make brass jewelry - one partnership employs women in the Kibera slum and the other works with recycled horn + brass with female craftsmen in Nairobi.
THE USA COLLECTION currently features hand-poured soy candles, infused with incredible scents, empowering formerly homeless women in Los Angeles. The USA Collection also includes an apparel line made in our home town of Austin TX. Made from high end designer remnants, this clothing collection is made by refugee women from all over the world.
THE GUATEMALA COLLECTION focuses on preserving traditional tribal crafts. This apparel collection is made on the backstrap loom and helps employ women in the mountain villages of Coban.
