Our Story

Raven + Lily is an ethical fashion and lifestyle brand dedicated to empowering women through design.

Who We Are:

Raven + Lily was created to alleviate poverty among women. We currently help employ over 1,500 marginalized women at fair trade wages to give them access to a safe job, sustainable income, health care, education, and a real chance to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families. We are proving that it is possible to scale a fair trade, fashion forward brand while making an impact for good on people and the planet. We design beautiful styles for you and your home in Austin, Texas that are made by hand in economically-challenged countries like Pakistan, India, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Kenya, and Peru.

We create modern designs produced through long-term artisan partnerships that help employ women from around the world.

The Problem:

One-in-six people on the planet work in the global fashion industry; a majority are women earning less than $3 per day.

The fashion industry is the world's second-largest polluter, just behind the oil industry.

Our Solution:

We believe in empowering women.  When women are empowered to earn an income, they reinvest 90% of their income back into health, education, food, children, family, and the community.

Our partners set the price we pay, ensuring a fair wage. This empowers the 1500+ women employed by our work to break the cycle of poverty through fair trade wages.

We research the source of our materials, down to the button. By using recycled or repurposed materials, we stop the waste that typically accompanies the industry.

Our partners employ at-risk women: trafficked, HIV+, previously homeless, or in oppressive situations. We empower women to earn a living for themselves and their families. This in turn provides access to healthcare, education, and healthy living.

Accountability: (we mean what we say)

Raven + Lily is proud to be a B Corporation, and we were named the Best for the World in Community Impact in both 2014 and 2016. As a certified Benefit Corporation, we are committed to:

  • employing at risk, impoverished women to improve their livelihood

  • eco-friendly practices in our sourcing of materials and our design processes

  • honoring traditional artisan crafts and techniques

  • providing sustainable fair trade wages

  • creating exclusive, modern designs that reflect the beauty and culture of the women who create them

  • donating back to our artisan communities for healthcare and educational needs

We are members of the Fair Trade Federation, as well as the Ethical Fashion Forum, Sustainable Brand Leader for Jewelry Award.
